Introduction

The region that is historically known as (Nineveh Plains) is considered as a small sample of Iraq, the country of civilization, variety and ethnic, cultural and religious plurality. In addition to Chaldean Assyrian Syrian, the most ancient and original residence of the land, the region also includes in a magnificent and mosaic portrait all other Iraqi components of Arabs, Kurds, Tukomans, Yezeedis, Shabks and Kakias.

Nineveh Center for research and development is an NGO and non-profitable academic research institute, it cares for the issues of research and study about humanitarian science in particularly and applicable science in general, it carries out all other regional projects that are in concern. The centre also encourages and supports teaching, educational and cultural issues for all region components, and participate in introducing the historical and geographical facts and emerging the wealthy heritage, arts, literature, science and language in order to strengthen the national, social and cultural relations as well as the common existence, and deep rooting the concepts and values of democracy and human right which serve the development of the region in all aspects of life for the common interest.

The main aims

Developing "Nineveh Plains" region and promoting it economically.


Presenting consultative services for the general and private institutes inside/outside the region, in order to promote and develop the region scientifically, culturally, socially and economically.


Restoring and preserving the civilization heritage of all region components, as well as introducing and releasing it nationally and internationally.


Strengthening the social and cultural relationships among different components of the coexist citizens in the region to serve the positive reaction among them and for the common interest.


Encouraging and supporting the scientists and researchers in the region. Encouraging the construction of the cultural and scientific institutes. In addition, we provide chances and scholarships to the students and those who are interested in cooperating and coordinating with academic, national and international institutes that share similar aims.


Establishing a university college in the region.

Establishing a museum for public folklore and heritage.

The main means and activities

Preparing and carrying out academic, theoretical and field researches and studies, as well as publishing books and manuscripts within the center interests.


Organizing symposia, seminars, cultural and scientific conferences.


Carrying out cultural and scientific projects within the center aims and interests.

Collecting, organizing and preparing the database and statistics that serve the aims of the center.
